Koniec i co dalej?

The end and what next? [English version below.]

Ostatnio nastąpiło i niebawem znowu nastąpi w moim życiu trochę zakończeń.

To koniec.

To jedna rzecz.

To chyba tyle. Dobrego dnia, życia i w ogóle!

ENG:

Recently some endings have happened in my life and some more are coming. Some things end, times change. After all, nothing can last forever. You just have to deal with it and say goodbye to some things. Fortunately...

It's just about cultural products.

For example, this week I finished watching "BoJack Horseman", about which I wrote here more than once. That's the end. There will be no more episodes. Some threads were closed, others were left open, allowing the viewer to guess. In any case, we should no longer see the adventures of the celebrity horse and his bizarre friends and acquaintances on the screen. Maybe the show wasn't finished in my dreamed way, but I think it closed very elegantly, especially considering what was happening at the end. Interestingly, to my surprise I do not feel unsatisfied at all. It was a good time to end the story. What was supposed to be closed, was closed, and what should remain unspoken, it remained this way. This is important because given the numerous twists and turns, the ups and downs of the characters over six seasons, probably no categorical epilogue would be satisfying. And now you can wonder: maybe everything will remain good forever? Or maybe everything is going to screw up again? Choose the variant you prefer.

This is one thing. Another: yesterday I finished reading "Rozum i Godność Człowieka" ("Human Reason and Dignity"), long book-formed interview with Krzysztof Gonciarz  by Bartek Przybyszewski. Although I would certainly not call myself the biggest fan of this artist, I am eager to watch his productions (of course not all) and consider him a very intelligent person, with whom I often disagree. It doesn't change the fact that it was pleasure to read this book. Maybe it's because you read it quickly and easily, as if you were just listening to the casual conversation of two colleagues? In addition, the scope of topics covered includes, among others, Internet creativity, influencer industry, life and doing business in Japan, but also life experience and worldview, including tolerance and openness to otherness. Such a mixture turns out to be extremely interesting.

And what is after the dot? Probably the future of Gonciarz and maybe in a few years another book. It is not worth, however, to speculate or guess because you just have to wait. His creativity will certainly provide material for the next creations of culture.

But! In addition to the potential further life experience of the characters, there is another aspect of the end of a track (series, book or film), namely the question of what to go on with. Recently, I was able to rebuild my habit of reading regularly and I would not want to lose it because of not reaching for another book for a long time. Fortunately, I was able to make the entire list and even a pile of books to read, so when I get home today, all I have to do is put "Rozum i Godność Człowieka" on the shelf and reach for the next book. This time it will probably be the second part of Jakub Ćwiek's "Liar". I guess so. I will find out at home. In any case, I should not run out of books for some time.

What about filling the gap after "BoJack Horseman"? There is no problem here for a moment. Last 19 episodes of the seventh season of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine", which I watched in parallel, but much longer, are waiting for me. The fate of Benjamin Sisko, Kira Nerys, Worf, Julian Bashir, Miles O'Brien and others kept interesting me more and more along with the following episodes, and knowing that I am already close to the epilogue, I even more want to check how it all ends.

It's just not going to work that way. We are talking about Star Trek, a huge sci-fi universe, and although maybe the further fate of these particular characters will not be presented in detail later, there are other productions, both series and movies, depicting the fate of the created world. It's probably also, though I don't know it for sure, the answer to the question, what series will I reach for when I'm done with "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine". I suppose its name will start with the same two words, but I don't know if the third will be "Voyager" or maybe "Discovery".

Anyway, I won't be thinking much and I'll just turn on the first episode of one of these two series. However, I am still 19 episodes of the current series far from that moment, so I have time.

And how is it with you? Are you wondering what are the fates of the characters of the stories you learned? Do you speculate on this topic? Or maybe you have problems deciding what book or series to pick after the current? If you want, let me know what you think about it.

And the song for today is recently discovered by me and it is from a musician I have known before. You can find it above.

I think that's it. Have a good day, life and all!

P S One more thing: if you haven't seen "1917" yet, then you definitely should go to the cinema and watch it! Visually, it's simply a wonder, and the story itself, though simple, resonated with me very much. However, even if the plot would not impress you, it's worth it even for beautiful shots and perfectly matched sound. Just see it and you won't regret it.

Spraw, że się zdarzy.

Make it happen. [English version below.]

Potem dorzucę garść statystyk i własnych przemyśleń i wszystkie te klocki złożę w artykuł, z którego będę dumny.

Czasem chodzi o to, by pokonać swój lęk i pójść pierwszy raz spotkanie jakiejś organizacji, koła naukowego, lokalnego klubu sportowego czy czegokolwiek innego.

ENG:

Yesterday, when I tried to rest a bit after an exhausting week, my phone suddenly rang. An unknown phone number appeared on the display, but recently this is not a significant criterion for me. I answered and it turned out that Wiktor Niedzicki, a journalist and populariser of science, called me. He contacted me because the day before I wrote to him with several questions for the needs of my new article for the University of Silesia Students' Magazine "Supplement". There were some technical problems when sending me the answer and he wanted to establish a form of communication that would allow him to answer my questions.

Yesterday, when I tried to rest a bit after an exhausting week, I checked the e-mail box. It turned out that prof. Michał Baczyński from the Institute of Mathematics of the University of Silesia wrote to me. He also raised the subject of questions that I sent to him the day before for the purposes of the article for the Supplement and asked if he could answer it by Tuesday. Yes, of course!

What do these two situations have in common? The fact that I was afraid if the gentlemen whom I asked my questions would like to answer me at all. However it turned out that they both contacted me in less than 24 hours. This is a truly great feeling, because I really have much worse interpersonal skills than you may think. Making contact with people I do not know (although I once had one subject with the mentioned professor) is always a terrifying experience for me. I do not even like to call and order pizza and that's why I bless pyszne.pl. Of course, sending an e-mail is easier, but in this case, after they were sent, I was nervous. It would be even fine, if I simply didn't get the answer. But what if it would come and was like, for example, "Your questions are idiotic."? Of course, the people I've been contacting are gentlemen, so they would probably use much more tactful words, but it's still an unpleasant prospect.

The article, however, must come into being (or at least I want it very much and the best Editor-in-Chief probably also, because the idea was her), so I had to overcome my fear and make contact with people who could comment the thema substantively. In the end, I want the text to be of good quality.

Of course, it turned out that I just had to beat the fright and take this first step. Now it will get simpler. I have already received some of the answers and some of them are to be delivered within a few days. After the first e-mail, it's easier to send another one. The seed was sown, contact established. Maybe I will need to ask something more, maybe not, but if this need occur, it will be easier. Then I will add a handful of statistics and my thoughts and use all of these blocks to build an article that I will be proud of. I already have the title.

The merits of this text is that nothing will happen on its own. If we want to achieve something, get a specific effect, we have to start trying to do it. Sometimes it will be just sending an email or clicking the "Apply" button in a job advertisement. At other times it may be writing the first page, chapter or novel or, for example, the first publication of your drawing on the internet. Sometimes the idea is to overcome your fear and go to the first meeting of an organization, a scientific club, a local sports club or anything else. And sometimes it happens that the first step may be to pack a backpack and move to the other end of the world the next day. For each person these things can be difficult in a different level - it depends on the character of the individual. They share one thing: they are necessary for something. They are the beginnings.

The fact that to do anything you just have to do it, was emphasized a few years ago by Krzysztof Gonciarz (polish vloger), in addition showing at the same time the beautiful frames. You can find his video above. Apart from him, probably a lot of people talked about it before and then someone probably too. Only that it is a thought that is worth reminding regularly. If you want to achieve something, you should start working on it right away, not in a moment, tomorrow, in a week or from the new year. Will we try? At least let's start.

Meanwhile, I leave you with a wonderful song, about which I forgot for a quite long time (and I do not know why). Fortunately, Spotify reminded me about it. You can find it above.

Have a nice week, full of first steps!
