Koniec i co dalej?

The end and what next? [English version below.]

Ostatnio nastąpiło i niebawem znowu nastąpi w moim życiu trochę zakończeń. Pewne sprawy kończą swój bieg, czasy się zmieniają. Nic nie może przecież wiecznie trwać. Trzeba się po prostu z tym pogodzić i pożeganać z niektórymi rzeczami. Na szczęście...

Chodzi tylko o wytwory kultury.

W tym tygodniu skończyłem na przykład oglądać "BoJacka Horsemana", o którym pisałem tu chyba więcej niż raz. To koniec. Więcej odcinków nie będzie. Pewne wątki zamknięto, inne pozostawiono otwarte, pozwalając widzowi na snucie domysłów. W każdym razie na ekranie nie powinniśmy już zobaczyć więcej przygód konia-celebryty i jego przedziwnych przyjaciół i znajomych. Może serialu nie zakończono w mój wymarzony sposób, ale uważam, że zamknięto go bardzo elegancko, zwłaszcza biorąc pod uwagę to, co działo się pod koniec. Co ciekawe, ku mojemu zaskoczeniu wcale nie czuję niedosytu. To był dobry moment, żeby zakończyć opowieść. Co miało zostać domknięte, zostało, a co powinno pozostać niedopowiedziane, też takie zostało. To ważne, bo biorąc pod uwagę liczne zwroty akcji, wzloty i upadki bohaterów na przestrzeni sześciu sezonów chyba żaden kategoryczny epilog nie byłby satysfakcjonujący. A tak można się zastanawiać: może wszystko poukładało się już na dobre? A może znowu wszystko się spieprzyło? Wybierzcie wariant, który wolicie.

To jedna rzecz. Inna: wczoraj skończyłem czytać "Rozum i Godność Człowieka", prowadzony przez Bartka Przybyszewskiego wywiad-rzekę z Krzysztofem Gonciarzem. Choć z pewnością nie nazwałbym się największym fanem tego twórcy, to jednak chętnie oglądam jego produkcje (oczywiście nie wszystkie) i uważam go za bardzo inteligentną osobę, z którą jednocześnie całkiem często się nie zgadzam. To nie zmienia faktu, że książkę czytało mi się bardzo przyjemnie. Może to dlatego, że czyta się ją łatwo i szybko, jakby po prostu przysłuchiwało się luźnej rozmowie dwóch kolegów? Poza tym zakres poruszanych tematów obejmuje między innymi twórczość internetową, branżę influencerską, życie i prowadzenie biznesu w Japonii, ale też doświadczenie życiowe i światopogląd, w tym tolerancję, otwarcie na inność. Taka mieszanka okazuje się niezwykle interesująca.

Koniec, kropka.

 A co po kropce? Pewnie dalsze losy Gonciarza i może za kilka lat kolejna książka. Nie warto jednak gdybać, spekulować i zgadywać, bo wystarczy poczekać. Jego kreatywność na pewno dostarczy jeszcze materiału do kolejnych tworów kultury.

Ale, ale! Oprócz potencjalnych dalszych losów bohaterów jest jeszcze jeden aspekt końca jakiegoś utworu (serialu, książki czy filmu), a mianowicie kwestia, za co zabrać się dalej. Udało mi się ostatnio odbudować nawyk w miarę regularnego czytania i nie chciałbym tego zaprzepaścić, długo nie sięgając po kolejną książkę. Na szczęście udało mi się zebrać całą listę, a nawet stosik książek do przeczytania, więc gdy wrócę dziś do domu wystarczy, że odłożę "Rozum i Godność Człowieka" na półkę i sięgnę po kolejną pozycję. Tym razem będzie to chyba druga część "Kłamcy" Ćwieka. Chyba. Przekonam się w domu. W każdym razie książek przez jakiś czas nie powinno mi zabraknąć.

A co z zapełnieniem luki po "BoJacku Horsemanie"? Tu jeszcze przez chwilę także nie ma problemu. Czeka na mnie 19 ostatnich odcinków siódmego sezonu "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine", który oglądałem równolegle, tyle że dużo dłużej. Losy Benjamina Sisko, Kiry Nerys, Worfa, Juliana Bashira, Milesa O'Briena i innych zdążyły mocno mnie wciągnąć wraz z biegiem dotychczasowych odcinków, a do tego wiedząc, że jestem już blisko epilogu, chcę tym prędzej sprawdzić jak to się wszystko skończy.

Tyle tylko, że to nie do końca tak zadziała. Mówimy bowiem o Star Treku, ogromnym uniwersum sci-fi i choć może losy tych konkretnych bohaterów nie będą już później szczegółowo zgłębiane, to jednak istnieją jeszcze inne produkcje, zarówno seriale jak i filmy, przedstawiające losy wykreowanego świata. To pewnie też, choć nie wiem tego na pewno, odpowiedź na pytanie, po jaki serial sięgnę, gdy skończę ze "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine". Przypuszczam,  że jego nazwa będzie się zaczynać od tych samych dwóch słów, ale nie wiem, czy trzecie to będzie "Voyager", czy może "Discovery".

W każdym razie długo pewnie nie będę się zastanawiać i po prostu włączę pierwszy odcinek któregoś z tych dwóch seriali. Od tego momentu dzieli mnie jednak jeszcze 19 odcinków aktualnego serialu, zatem mam czas. 

A jak jest z Wami? Zastanawiacie się, jakie były dalsze losy bohaterów dzieł, które przyswoiliście? Spekulujecie na ten temat? A może miewacie problemy ze zdecydowaniem po jaką książkę lub serial siągnąć, gdy skończą się dotychczas pochłaniane? Jeśli chcecie, dajcie znać, co sądzicie na ten temat.

P S Jeszcze jedno: jeśli do tej pory nie widzieliście "1917", to koniecznie idźcie na ten film do kina! Wizualnie to po prostu rewelacja, a sama historia, choć prosta, ze mną bardzo mocno zarezonowała. Jeśli jednak nawet fabuła nie zrobi na Was wrażenia, to warto choćby dla przepięknych ujęć i doskonale dopasowanego dźwięku. Po prostu to zobaczcie, a nie pożałujecie.

Recently some endings have happened in my life and some more are coming. Some things end, times change. After all, nothing can last forever. You just have to deal with it and say goodbye to some things. Fortunately...

It's just about cultural products.

For example, this week I finished watching "BoJack Horseman", about which I wrote here more than once. That's the end. There will be no more episodes. Some threads were closed, others were left open, allowing the viewer to guess. In any case, we should no longer see the adventures of the celebrity horse and his bizarre friends and acquaintances on the screen. Maybe the show wasn't finished in my dreamed way, but I think it closed very elegantly, especially considering what was happening at the end. Interestingly, to my surprise I do not feel unsatisfied at all. It was a good time to end the story. What was supposed to be closed, was closed, and what should remain unspoken, it remained this way. This is important because given the numerous twists and turns, the ups and downs of the characters over six seasons, probably no categorical epilogue would be satisfying. And now you can wonder: maybe everything will remain good forever? Or maybe everything is going to screw up again? Choose the variant you prefer.

This is one thing. Another: yesterday I finished reading "Rozum i Godność Człowieka" ("Human Reason and Dignity"), long book-formed interview with Krzysztof Gonciarz  by Bartek Przybyszewski. Although I would certainly not call myself the biggest fan of this artist, I am eager to watch his productions (of course not all) and consider him a very intelligent person, with whom I often disagree. It doesn't change the fact that it was pleasure to read this book. Maybe it's because you read it quickly and easily, as if you were just listening to the casual conversation of two colleagues? In addition, the scope of topics covered includes, among others, Internet creativity, influencer industry, life and doing business in Japan, but also life experience and worldview, including tolerance and openness to otherness. Such a mixture turns out to be extremely interesting.

And what is after the dot? Probably the future of Gonciarz and maybe in a few years another book. It is not worth, however, to speculate or guess because you just have to wait. His creativity will certainly provide material for the next creations of culture.

But! In addition to the potential further life experience of the characters, there is another aspect of the end of a track (series, book or film), namely the question of what to go on with. Recently, I was able to rebuild my habit of reading regularly and I would not want to lose it because of not reaching for another book for a long time. Fortunately, I was able to make the entire list and even a pile of books to read, so when I get home today, all I have to do is put "Rozum i Godność Człowieka" on the shelf and reach for the next book. This time it will probably be the second part of Jakub Ćwiek's "Liar". I guess so. I will find out at home. In any case, I should not run out of books for some time.

What about filling the gap after "BoJack Horseman"? There is no problem here for a moment. Last 19 episodes of the seventh season of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine", which I watched in parallel, but much longer, are waiting for me. The fate of Benjamin Sisko, Kira Nerys, Worf, Julian Bashir, Miles O'Brien and others kept interesting me more and more along with the following episodes, and knowing that I am already close to the epilogue, I even more want to check how it all ends.

It's just not going to work that way. We are talking about Star Trek, a huge sci-fi universe, and although maybe the further fate of these particular characters will not be presented in detail later, there are other productions, both series and movies, depicting the fate of the created world. It's probably also, though I don't know it for sure, the answer to the question, what series will I reach for when I'm done with "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine". I suppose its name will start with the same two words, but I don't know if the third will be "Voyager" or maybe "Discovery".

Anyway, I won't be thinking much and I'll just turn on the first episode of one of these two series. However, I am still 19 episodes of the current series far from that moment, so I have time.

Visually, it's simply a wonder, and the story itself, though simple, resonated with me very much. However, even if the plot would not impress you, it's worth it even for beautiful shots and perfectly matched sound. Just see it and you won't regret it.

It is almost the end... [English version below]

Jest sobie COŚ. COŚ bardzo Wam się podoba. To COŚ trwa. Trwa długo, jesteście do tego przywiązani. I nagle zdajecie sobie sprawę, że niebawem to COŚ się skończy. To problem, bo wy wcale nie chcecie, żeby się skończyło.

To COŚ może być bardzo różne, w zależności od osoby. Możliwości to między innymi praca w jakimś miejscu, wciągająca rozmowa, pełen przygód wyjazd, wyjątkowo udana domówka, fascynująca książka czy rewelacyjny serial. Ja akurat piszę ten tekst z tego ostatniego powodu. Od jesieni oglądam serial Battlestar Galactica. Długo, ale z uwagi na napięty sezon nie byłem w stanie szybciej. W każdym razie pisząc te słowa jestem w połowie przedostatniego odcinka ostatniego sezonu, co oznacza, że zostało mi do obejrzenia ledwie 60 minut tego serialu. To tylko godzina produkcji, która jest jednym z najlepszych seriali sci-fi, jakie było mi dane oglądać, być może najlepszym serialem, jaki widziałem kiedykolwiek.

I co z tym zrobić? Z jednej strony kusi mnie, by jak najprędzej obejrzeć całość do końca, poznać zwieńczenie historii. Chciałbym usiąść i po prostu zobaczyć już naraz wszystko, co pozostało.

Istnieje jednak też druga pokusa, może silniejsza. Przecież można odwlekać zakończenie. Dawkować sobie poznawanie losów bohaterów. Przecież gdy na ekranie pojawią się napisy końcowe, pewien rozdział nieodwracalnie zostanie zamknięty. Do świata doskonale wykreowanych bohaterów już nie wrócę. Pewne pytania na pewno pozostaną bez odpowiedzi, bo nie da się jej udzielić na wszystkie. Losy niedobitków ludzkości uciekających przez przestrzeń kosmiczną na pewno pozostawią po sobie swego rodzaju pustkę.

Odtwarzać dalej?

Admirale Adama, co robić?! Błyskawicznie pochłonąć resztę historii czy dawkować ją sobie jeszcze długo? Może się wydawać, że to banalne pytanie, bo w końcu chodzi tu tylko o serial, ale przecież można je przenieść także na inne dziedziny życia.

Czy spieszyć się z czymś, co sprawia nam przyjemność, ale kiedyś i tak się skończy? Przecież przyjemności należy dawkować, celebrować, cieszyć się nimi jak najdłużej. Zawsze jednak istnieje pokusa zobaczenia, co będzie dalej. Co pojawi się w miejscu dotychczasowego CZEGOŚ? Czy dorówna temu, co było dotychczas? Czy będzie podobne, czy zupełnie inne? I czy zakończenie tego, co jest teraz, usatysfakcjonuje nas? A może raczej rozczaruje? Wiele pytań i... Jest tylko jeden sposób, żeby się przekonać!

Wychodzi więc na to, że trzeba trochę powzdychać, ale potem się przełamać i śmiało zmierzać do końca. Po nim przyjdą kolejne. To jednak tylko zdanie losowego typa z internetu. Nie musicie się nim zbytnio sugerować.

There is a THING. You really like the THING. The THING takes some time. It takes a lot of time, so you become attached to it. And suddenly you realize that the THING will end soon. It's a problem, because you do not want it to end.

The THING can be very different, depending on the person. Possibilities include work in some place, engaging conversation, an adventurous trip, exceptionally successful home, fascinating book or a sensational series. I am just writing this text for the last reason. I have been watching the Battlestar Galactica series since autumn. Long, but due to the hard season I was not able to do it faster. In any case, writing these words I am in the middle of the penultimate episode of the last season, which means that I have only 60 minutes of watching this series left. It's just an hour of production, which is one of the best sci-fi series I've ever seen, maybe the best show I've ever seen.

And what to do about it? On the one hand, I am tempted to see the whole as soon as possible, to get to know the culmination of the story. I would like to sit down and just see everything that's left at once.

However, there is also a second temptation, maybe stronger. After all, you can postpone the ending. Dose yourself learning about the fate of heroes. After all, when the final credits will appear on the screen, a certain chapter will become irreversibly closed. I will not come back to the world of perfectly created heroes. Certain questions will remain unanswered for sure, because the answers can not be given to all of them. The story of the survivors of humanity fleeing through space will surely leave some kind of emptiness.

Admiral Adama, what am I supposed to do?! Quickly absorb the rest of the story or give it a lot of time? It may seem like a trivial question, because in the end it's all about the show, but you can also transfer it to other areas of life.

Should we hurry with something that pleases us, but it will end one day? After all, pleasures should be celebrated as long as possible. However, there is always a temptation to see what will happen next. What will appear in the place of the current THING? Will it equal to what was previously? Will it be similar or completely different? And is the ending of the current thing going to satisfy us? Or maybe rather disappoint? Many questions and ... There is only one way to find out!

So it comes out that you have to grumble a little, but then break it up and boldly go to the end. After this one, more will come. However, this is only the opinion of a random guy from the Internet. You do not have to take it too serious.
