Zabić lenistwo!

Kill the laziness! [English version below.]

Ślub, wesele, poprawiny, chwila przerwy i w końcu polecieliśmy.

Trzeba szukać okazji, by odpoczywać, próbując różnych rzeczy i poznając nowe.

Wpadnijcie:

To tyle na dziś. Dobrego popołudnia, tygodnia, życia. Trzymajcie się.

I have not been here for three weeks. As some of you can know from my Facebook, for the last week I rested on Crete with my newly married wife. Warm countries are not our typical destination, but this time we decided to rest in this way. What's more, for the first time we decided to go on a trip organized by a travel agency, not wanting to add planning the vacation to the mess related to the wedding and other things.

Wedding, reception, second day, a moment of break and finally we flew. In Heraklion we landed on Wednesday afternoon and on that day we managed to rest a bit by the pool. Similarly, throughout the whole of Thursday and Friday: we walked a bit, but mostly we swam and were lying by the pools or by the sea. That was the plan for the beginning, but to be honest: on Friday I had enough of that and another day would lead to fury. Even the fact that I had books and TV shows with me did not help me much.

Fortunately, tours began on Saturday. First, we went to visit the Minoan palace in Knossos and the Archaeological Museum in Heraklion, as well as the city itself. It was really interesting, although I was disappointed by the low level of originality of the palace itself. The next day we went to Spinalonga, which was first a Venetian fortress, then a Turkish one, and then a place where lepers lived. It was also a really interesting trip, additionally enriched by a cruise on the sea, swimming in the Mirabello bay and a dinner on the ship and sightseeing of the town of Agios Nikolaos. In addition, we planned to participate in a trip to Chania and Rethymno on Monday, ie two beautiful cities with clear traces of Venetian rule in Crete.

Unfortunately, it turned out that this trip would not take place. It seems that the reason was too few interested. I got a little irritated because I was really looking forward to it. However, nothing could be done. The vision of a return to laziness throughout the day was quite frightening to me. Therefore, we had to look for something else.

SUDDENLY... It turned out that just one and a half kilometers from our hotel there is Lychnostatis, Museum on the Open Air, presenting the natural history and culture of Crete. In the fenced area there are authentic Cretan houses, a school, church or fisherman's hut, examples of vegetation, a herbarium and many, many more. The whole tour was indeed very informative and engaging and this is an attraction that I can recommend with a clear conscience. Spending EUR 6 per person on the admission ticket turned out to be quite a good idea. Thanks to this, the next days could again be sacrificed mainly for laziness and looking for gifts. It was important that the holiday was not limited only to lying down.

A rest based solely on laziness does not appeal to me. Of course, it's nice, but in small quantities. Another example is my friend's birthday, which we celebrated this weekend. Maybe we would just be sitting, drinking and eating, perhaps with the sounds of a guitar. However, not this time. That is to say: it happened also, but only on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Earlier, before the event, we went on karting. We were racing, overtaking each other and comparing the results. There was a sense of overload and air rush. The most important thing was that something was happening.

Similarly, after the event, when we finally managed to organize, we went on kayaks. A little of sport and effort was a good break from partying. This was accompanied by visiting the area from a different perspective and observing a colleague who fell into the water by the shore. Thanks to this, an ordinary event turned into an exciting weekend.

I think that although it is sometimes worth spending free time lazing around, it's better to be careful about it. You need to look for opportunities to relax, trying different things and getting to know new ones. It is worth to kill laziness, looking for opportunities for trips, racing with friends or trying something else. Of course, I do not insist. I recommend it with all my heart.

A song for today is something wonderful. What is more, KAMP! will play this Friday at the Night Market in Katowice. Come and hear, but first listen to the recording, which you can find it above.

That's it for today. Have a good afternoon, week and life. Take care.

Ogarnij się, leniu!

Get yourself together, you lazy bastard! [English version below].

Okej, zawsze to jakiś powód.
Pociągnijmy to ciut dalej:

"- Ok, a dlaczego nie miałeś siły? Co się dzieje?
 - Nie no, nic. Byłem w pracy przez cały tydzień..."

Nosz, cholera jasna!

Właśnie, bo to druga kwestia.

W grę wchodzą indywidualne predyspozycje i upodobania.

Jeśli natomiast chodzi o sam papierek magistra i nic więcej, to taniej byłoby go kupić. Serio.

Zostawiam Was z tą myślą i z przecudowną piosenką, którą odkryłem przed chwilą:

To by było na tyle. Studentom i niestudentom dobrego tygodnia! Następne wpisy będą już w ciut bardziej uniwersalnej tematyce.

ENG:

It took me a while to find a good topic for today's post. Failing to find a decent idea, I decided to pour some irritation out. The decision has already been made, and although more interesting ideas have appeared in the meantime, I have to be consistent. The ideas will stay for the next weeks, and today's text will be about studying. About students, being more precise. Session in progress, so the topic is very current.

"My studies, so beautiful." Exercises, lectures, you know that. Lately with the advantage of the latter. They are not obligatory, it is clear. A lot of people do not take part in them and that is ok. But ... They still would like to have some notes, right? I understand that there are different situations. There are important and more important matters. You could not be at the lecture, because there was your child's birthday, godson's birthday, the need to go to work, a trip for the whole weekend, illness or even drinking vodka with your brother-in-law. Okay, that's always a reason. Often, however, it happens that someone appears only at one lecture for a whole semester or even not, and his/her only justification every time is:
"I did not have strength anymore."
Ok, I do not judge. There are different situations. Maybe someone must take care of sick grandma, two children and manage the company at the same time. It happens, I guess. But, but! Let's pull it a bit further:
"- Ok, why did not you have strength? What's happening?
 - Nothing. I was at work all week ..."
Oh, damn it! Indeed, very surprising at extramural studies. After all, the remaining few hundred people stay at home for 5 days a week and laze, so they are in full strength when the weekend comes. No, it's not like that. I know that one job is uneven to the other. I can bet, however, that although I may not have the most tiring profession among my colleagues, I certainly do not have the least one and somehow I manage. I would also understand this argument if it appeared once or twice, but not every time. Then there is a great astonishment that with continuous absences you have a problem with passing the exams.

Well, it's the second issue. Difficulty to pass. I am of the opinion that it is enough to be present at the lecture and listen a little, then repeat the whole thing several times, without exaggeration (and it's really without the exaggeration, because there is not much time - there is work, minor social activities, a will to sleep at some decent minimum and keeping in touch with the family and friends) and most of the exams will be passed without major problems. With this approach, my worst grade in my studies was one, only 3,5. Moreover, it was the subject, which concerned taxes, so it might as well be about the construction of space ferries and would be similarly understandable to me.

It is known that everyone learn differently. Individual predispositions and preferences are at stake. However, without giving yourself a chance to listen to what the lecturer has to say, it is certainly harder. If you read the notes for the first time in the evening before the exam, it is not surprising that the results are what they are (that is, there are almost none). The next time you're going to say that you did not have time before, think about whether or not it is not a question of how you managed it. You could probably reduce all other activities to the necessary minimum for the two weeks of the session.

I'm unnecessarily nervous. In the end, it's an individual matter for everyone how he or she learns or does not learn. It pisses me off, however. People from my year spend ten thousand Polish new zlotys  for two years of education. Plenty of money, which could be used in a lot of interesting ways. Do they care to learn something by spending this money? I hope so. It must be however followed by specific actions. So far, there is no system that would make the knowledge flow into your head immediately after payment. If it's only about master's diploma itself and nothing more, it would be cheaper to buy it. Seriously. The chance that it would come to light someday is not so big.

I leave you with this thought and the wonderful song that I discovered a moment ago (you can find it above).

That's it. Have good week, students and the rest! The next entries will be in a more universal theme.
