Nie będę się dzisiaj rozpisywał za bardzo. Chcę tylko wspomnieć o pewnym bezbrzeżnym zachwycie, który wyrażałem już w tym tygodniu na moim Facebooku. Otóż tydzień temu słuchałem wywiadu Karola Paciorka (Impoderabilia) z Vito Bambino (m. in. Bitamina). Samej rozmowy, bardzo ciekawej. możecie posłuchać pod tym linkiem:
W każdym razie w trakcie rozmowy usłyszałem o pewnym artyście, o którym coś wcześniej słyszałem, ale nigdy go nie słuchałem. Vito Bambino określił go jednak jako jedną ze swoich ważniejszych inspiracji, a dowiedziałem się też z tej rozmowy, że magazyn Pitchfork wybrał ostatni długi album tego artysty najlepszym albumem dekady. Wtedy postanowiłem, że sprawdzę to, ale pomyślałem też, że rzecz pewnie i tak nie przypadnie mi do gustu.
Nie, to nie ten album.
Sprawdziłem. Okazało się, że bardzo się pomyliłem. A konkretniej:
Nazwisko: Frank Ocean.
Album: Blonde (alternatywnie też: blond).
Skrócona opinia: to najpiękniejsza rzecz na świecie.
Wcisnąłem "play", spodziewając się amerykańskiego rapu. Wtedy pewnie stwierdziłbym, że to dobra muzyka, ale nie dla mnie. Okazało się jednak, że zamiast tego dostałem wrażliwość zamkniętą w dźwięki. Muzykę trafiającą mnie prosto w serce. Gatunek? Pewnie pop. Soul? R&B? Jakaś taka przedziwna mieszanka.
Blonde zachwyca mnie w zasadzie na każdym poziomie - muzyki, wokali, zaproszonych gości, przejść między poszczególnymi utworami. Wszystko tu się spina, zgrywa, układa w logiczną całość. Nie ma słabych momentów, gorszych utworów, potknięć. To rzecz, w której warto się po prostu zanurzyć. Zatopić w muzyce i płynąć. Niemal przez cały, godzinny album czuję dreszcze. Spora jego część budzi we mnie moje ulubione skojarzenia. Rozmowy na dworze w trakcie imprezy. Noc. Deszcz. Dym papierosowy.
Wszystkie moje reakcje można sprowadzić do: "Gdzie ten album był przez całe moje życie?!". To oczywiste wyolbrzymienie, bo tak naprawdę straciłem tylko 4 lata, nie wiedząc o jego istnieniu (tak, płyta jest z 2016 r.). Staram się to teraz nadrobić, słuchając Blonde codziennie przynajmniej raz, a często kilkukrotnie. Mogę odtwarzać ten album w pętli. Od czasu do czasu odkrywam w nim coś nowego. Włączam go w pracy i po pracy. W tygodniu i w weekend. To muzyka, od której nie mogę, ale i nie chcę się uwolnić.
Posłuchajcie Blonde. Proszę. Istnieje spore prawdopodobieństwo, że nie zakochacie się w tym albumie tak jak ja, ale przynajmniej dajcie mu szansę. I won't write too much today. I just want to mention a certain boundless admiration that I have already expressed this week on my Facebook. Well, a week ago I listened to an interview by Karol Paciorek (Impoderabilia, Polish YouTuber) with Vito Bambino (among others Bitamina, Polish band). The conversation itself was very interesting.
Anyway, during the interview I heard about an artist I had heard about before, but I have never listened to him. Vito Bambino, however, described him as one of his more important inspirations, and I also learned from this conversation that Pitchfork magazine chose the artist's last long album as the best album of the decade. Then I decided that I would check it, but I also thought that I would probably not like the thing anyway.
I checked that. It turned out that I was very wrong. To be more specific:
Name: Frank Ocean.
Album: Blonde (alternatively also: blond).
Short opinion: this is the most beautiful thing in the world.
I pressed "play" expecting American rap. Then I would probably say that this is a good music, but not for me. It turned out, however, that instead I got a sensitivity closed in sounds. Music that hits me straight in the heart. Genre? Probably pop. Soul? R & B? Some kind of weird mix of those.
Blonde impresses me basically at every level - music, vocals, invited guests, transitions between individual songs. Everything here fits together, forms a logical whole. There are no weak moments, worse songs, fails. It is worth to immerse yourself in it. Dip in music and flow. I feel chills almost throughout the entire hour. A large part of it evokes my favorite associations. Outdoor talks during the party. Night. Rain. Cigarette smoke.
All my reactions can be reduced to: "Where has this album been all my life ?!" This is an obvious exaggeration, because I lost only 4 years without knowing about its existence (yes, the album is from 2016). I'm trying to make up for it now by listening to Blonde every day at least once, and often several times. I can play this album in a loop. From time to time I discover something new in it. I turn it on at work and after work. During the week and weekend. It's music that I can't, but also I don't want to break free from.
Listen to Blonde. Please. There is a good chance that you won't fall in love with this album like I do, but at least give it a try. Sztuki audiowizualne. Filmy. Wielkie produkcje. Blockbustery. Gwiazdorska obsada? Oczywiście. Efekty specjalne? Jak najbardziej. Niebanalny scenariusz. Pewnie. Ale co jeszcze? Co poza tym sprawia, że pewne dzieła stają niezwykłe, doskonale zapamiętane, a czasem nawet wybitne?
Komponent audio, który jest ważnym towarzyszem wizualiów. Soundtrack. Muzyka. Zestaw dopasowanych albo specjalnie skomponowanych utworów, które odpowiednio podkreślają klimat filmu, budują napięcie czy wprowadzają odpowiednią melancholię albo przeciwnie, dynamikę. Odpowiednia ścieżka dźwiękowa może uratować nawet przeciętny film lub sprawić, że dobry stanie się rewelacyjny, a zaniedbana może położyć całkiem niezłą produkcję.
Odpowiednie zbudowanie klimatu filmu to jedno, ale przecież soundtracki często wydaje się też osobno. Oceniając je niezależnie od filmów, dla których je stworzono, ma się do czynienia tak naprawdę z jednym tylko pytaniem: czy bronią się same? Czy potrafią obudzić odpowiednie emocje bez ruchomego obrazka na ekranie? Jeśli tak, to rzeczywiście można mówić o sukcesie. Poniżej prezentuję kilka takich właśnie soundtracków, które mają coś w sobie i z jakiegoś powodu uważam je za wyjątkowe. Kolejność listy jest raczej przypadkowa.
Dźwięk wkomponowany w obraz.
TRON: Legacy
Ten głośny film z 2010 r., będący kontynuacją filmu sci-fi z 1982 r. i opierający się na idei przeniesienia się człowieka do wnętrza komputera z pewnością ma wiele zalet. Choć fabuła jest dość absurdalna i niezbyt imponująca, to całkiem niezła obsada (m. in. Olivia Wilde, Jeff Bridges i Michael Sheen) sprzedaje ją nienajgorzej. Z kolei warstwa wizualna filmu to coś niezwykłego i nie chodzi mi tu tylko o sceny wyścigów na motocyklach czy walk na dyski, nawiązujące do pierwszego filmu, ale o całokształt. Kolory, światło czy ukazanie ruchu sprawiają, że w zasadzie każda scena tego filmu jest prawdziwą ucztą dla oczu. Nie zmienia tego nawet fakt, że pewnie przy obecnej technologii produkcja ta nie jest jakimś wybitnym osiągnięciem. To nieważne, gdy ogląda się ją tak dobrze.
Czy jednak wspomniane wizualia robiłyby takie wrażenie, gdyby nie doskonała ścieżka dźwiękowa skomponowana przez francuski duet Daft Punk? Nie jestem przekonany. Na potrzeby filmu powstała muzyka elektroniczna najwyższej jakości. Album na Spotify ma niespełna 59 minut i jest po prostu arcydziełem. Odpowiednio koresponduje z fabułą filmu, udanie łącząc ze sobą dynamiczne, szybkie utwory i bardziej melancholijne kompozycje, doskonale dopasowując je do bieżących potrzeb filmu.
Album sprawdza się zresztą także w oddzieleniu od obrazu. Dość często włączam go sobie podczas pracy, ponieważ pozwala mi się skupić, a z kolei dynamiczniejsze utwory sprzyjają szybszemu tempu wykonywania zadań. Nie jest jednak tak, że album TRON: Legacy nie sprawdza się jako towarzysz czasu wolnego. Przeciwnie, bardzo chętnie słucham go także na przykład podczas odpoczynku czy lektury książki. Wydaje mi się, że to jeden z najczęściej odtwarzanych przeze mnie albumów jako całości. Zresztą, posłuchajcie sami, na przykład na Spotify. Nie pożałujecie (chyba).
Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood
O samym filmie nie ma chyba sensu pisać za wiele, ponieważ niemal każdy powinien go kojarzyć. Po pierwsze, to produkcja ledwie z ubiegłego roku, a po drugie to film Quentina Tarantino. To powinno w zupełności wystarczyć. Dla formalności przypomnę jeszcze, że fabuła filmu rozgrywa się w Hollywood u schyłku lat 60., a główni bohaterowie to aktorzy, kaskaderzy i inne osoby związane z przemysłem filmowym. W obsadzie znaleźli się między innymi Leonardo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie czy Brad Pitt, który za swój występ w tym filmie zdobył pierwszego w swojej karierze Oscara.
Choć opinie o tym filmie były dość mocno podzielone, to jego zwolennicy i przeciwnicy mogą się chyba zgodzić w jednym: to klimat gra tutaj pierwsze skrzypce. Jest ważniejszy niż fabuła czy doświadczenia życiowe głównych bohaterów. Cała produkcja de facto sprowadza się do tego, że śledzenie ich losów jest tak naprawdę tylko narzędziem, dzięki którym ma się płynąć i chłonąć atmosferę Hollywood u schyłku swojego okresu niewinności.
A wiecie, co jest wspaniałym narzędziem budowania klimatu? Tak, zgadliście. Muzyka. Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood wykorzystuje ją doskonale. Na ścieżce dźwiękowej można znaleźć między innymi utwory Deep Purple czy duetu Simon & Garfunkel, a także wielu innych artystów z epoki. Pomiędzy utworami umieszczono krótkie reklamy i komunikaty informacyjne odpowiadające tym z czasów, gdy rozgrywa się akcja filmu, co ma dawać wrażenie, jakby słuchało się po prostu radia sprzed pięćdziesięciu lat i to rzeczywiście działa. Soundtrack Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood to z jednej strony kawał doskonałej muzyki, raczej rockowej, a z drugiej muzyczne odbicie tego wszystkiego, co film pokazuje obrazem. Piękna sprawa i naprawdę warto posłuchać. Serdecznie Was do tego zachęcam.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
Ten film z 2013 r. może być znany mniejszej liczbie osób, więc w skrócie: Ben Stiller wciela się tu w tytułowego bohatera, marzyciela i pracownika ciemni fotograficznej magazynu LIFE, który wiedzie dość nudne życie. Zawirowania w pracy sprawiają jednak, że niespodziewanie dla wszystkich, łącznie z samym sobą, rusza w niezwykłą podróż w poszukiwaniu zaginionego negatywu fotografii. Po drodze odwiedza przepiękne lokalizacje na całym świecie, uczy się zachwytu światem, a w drodze przeżywa także niezwykłe przygody, między innymi walcząc z rekinem czy uciekając na deskorolce przed wybuchem wulkanu.
To pozytywna, ale nie miałka ani kiczowata opowieść i w zasadzie to samo można powiedzieć o muzyce towarzyszącej filmowi. Wśród wykonawców tworzących jego ścieżkę dźwiękową znaleźli się między innymi José González, grupa Junip, do której także należy ten muzyk czy zespół Of Monsters and Men. Większość utworów to melodyjne, melancholijne kompozycje, popowo-gitarowe, o skandynawskiej genezie.
Drugi i ostatni na tej liście film z ubiegłego roku to bardzo dobrze przyjęty kryminał w reżyserii Riana Johnsona, klimatem wyraźnie nawiązujący do twórczości Agathy Christie. To się musiało udać, bo rewelacyjny scenariusz, nie dość, że doskonale nakręcony i wyreżyserowany, został też perfekcyjnie zagrany. Nie można było zresztą oczekiwać niczego innego, jeśli w obsadzie znaleźli się Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Don Johnson, Ana de Armas, Christopher Plummer, a także inni znakomici aktorzy.
Przedstawiona w filmie opowieść jest pełna napięcia i zwrotów akcji, a jednocześnie rozgrywa się w klasycznej rezydencji bardzo dobrze sytuowanej rodziny. Czy jakaś inna muzyka niż klasyczna mogłaby tu budować klimat? Wątpię. Fortepian, instrumenty smyczkowe i inne zostały połączone przez Nathana Johnsona w taki sposób, by widzowi czy też słuchaczowi cały czas towarzyszyło uczucie delikatnego niepokoju. Niezbyt intensywne, gdzieś w tle, ale nie znikające nawet na ułamek sekundy. Czasem nasilające się, a czasem pozwalające na odrobinę wytchnienia, ale zawsze w jakiś sposób obecne. Naprawdę warto zatopić się w tych dźwiękach i doświadczyć owego uczucia na własnej skórze.
American Hustle
Opowieść o przekręcie, FBI i próbie przywrócenia świetności Atlantic City opisana w całkiem niezłym scenariuszu. Do tego w obsadzie Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Bradley Cooper na pierwszym planie, a w tle kolejni znakomici aktorzy, zatem fabuła zagrana wybornie. Piękne ujęcia obrazujące klimat schyłku lat 70. ubiegłego wieku. Czy to wystarczyłoby, żebym pokochał ten film z 2013 r.? To całkiem możliwe.
Tak się jednak złożyło, że oprócz tego wszystkiego zaoferował on znacznie więcej, a mianowicie wyborną ścieżkę dźwiękową. Znaleźli się na niej tacy wykonawcy jak Duke Ellington, Elton John, Electric Light Orchestra, Wings, Bee Gees, Donna Summer, Tom Jones czy America, a nawet nie wymieniłem wszystkich. Prawdziwe gwiazdy i ich przeboje, które mimo upływu lat wcale nie tracą na jakości. I tak, w przypadku tego filmu muzyka nie była tworzona specjalnie na jego potrzeby, ani nawet odpowiednio w nim osadzona, jak w przypadku Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood. Tyle tylko, że... Nie ma to żadnego znaczenia. Muzyka ta jest tak dobra sama w sobie, a jednocześnie w naturalny sposób tak dobrze pasuje do filmu, że nie potrzeba tu nic więcej. Zresztą najlepiej posłuchajcie sami.
To by było na tyle. Jeśli nie chcecie po raz kolejny słuchać playlist, które są mniej lub bardziej losowymi zbieraninami różnych utworów, a wolicie posłuchać czegoś dłuższego, co jest spójną całością, sięgnijcie po któryś z powyższych soundtracków, a najlepiej po wszystkie po kolei. Raczej nie pożałujecie.
A oprócz tego utwór na dziś to klasyk, ale w wersji z filmu The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, która z jakiegoś powodu nie znalazła się na albumie z oficjalnym soundtrackiem. Posłuchajcie:

Audiovisual Arts. Movies. Great productions. Blockbusters. Star cast? Of course. Special effects? Certainly. An original scenario? Sure. But what else? What else makes some works extraordinary, perfectly remembered, and sometimes even outstanding?
Audio component that is an important companion of the visuals. Soundtrack. Music. A set of matched or specially composed songs that properly emphasize the atmosphere of the film, build tension or introduce appropriate melancholy or, on the contrary, dynamics. The right soundtrack can save even the average movie or make from a good one a sensational one, and neglected soundtrack can spoil quite a good production.
Building a proper climate of the movie is one thing, but soundtracks are often published separately as well. Judging them regardless of the films for which they were created, there is really only one question: are they good on their own? Can they arouse the right emotions without a moving picture on the screen? If so, we can really talk of success. Below I present some such soundtracks that have something in them and for some reason I consider them unique. The order of the list is rather random.
TRON: Legacy
This quite popular film from 2010, which is a continuation of the 1982 sci-fi film and based on the idea of moving a human inside a computer, certainly has many advantages. Although the plot is quite absurd and not very impressive, quite a good cast (including Olivia Wilde, Jeff Bridges and Michael Sheen) sells it well. In turn, the visual layer of the film is something extraordinary and I do not mean only scenes of racing on motorbikes or disc fights, referring to the first film, but about the whole. Colors, light or showing of movement make virtually every scene of this film is a real feast for the eyes. This is not altered even by the fact that with current technology this production is not some outstanding achievement. It doesn't matter when it is such a pleasure to watch it.
However, would the aforementioned visuals make such an impression without the perfect soundtrack composed by the French duo Daft Punk? I'm not sure. The highest quality electronic music was created for the needs of the film. The Spotify album is just under 59 minutes and is simply a masterpiece. It corresponds with the movie's plot, successfully combining dynamic, fast songs and more melancholic compositions, perfectly matching them to the current needs of the film.
The album also works well separately from the video. I turn it on quite often when I work, because it allows me to focus, and in turn more dynamic songs favor faster task pace. It's not like the TRON: Legacy album doesn't work as a free time companion. On the contrary, I like to listen to it, for example, while resting or reading a book. It seems to me that it's one of the albums I listen to most often as a whole. Listen to it yourself, for example on Spotify. You won't regret it (I think).
Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood
There is probably no point in writing too much about the movie itself, because almost everyone should recognize it. First of all, this production is barely from last year, and secondly it is a movie by Quentin Tarantino. That should be enough. For formalities, let me remind you that the plot of the film takes place in Hollywood in the late 1960s, and the main characters are actors, stuntmen and other people associated with the movie industry. The cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt, who won the first Oscar in his career for his performance in this film.
Although opinions about this movie were quite strongly divided, its supporters and opponents can probably agree in one: the climate is a primary thing here. It is more important than the plot or life experiences of the main characters. The whole production de facto boils down to the fact that following their lives is really just a tool thanks to which one can flow and soak up the atmosphere of Hollywood at the end of period of its innocence.
And you know what a great climate-building tool is? Yes you guessed it. Music. "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood" uses it perfectly. On the soundtrack you can find songs by Deep Purple or the duo Simon & Garfunkel, as well as many other artists from the era. Between the songs there are placed short commercials and informational messages corresponding to those of the time when the film is set, which is to give the impression that you just listened to the radio fifty years ago and it actually works. Soundtrack of "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood" is on the one hand a piece of excellent, rather rock music, and on the other a musical reflection of everything that the movie shows with video. It's a beautiful thing and it's really worth listening to. I heartily encourage you to do so.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
This 2013 movie may be known to fewer people, so in a nutshell: Ben Stiller takes on the title hero, dreamer and darkroom employee of the LIFE magazine who lives a rather boring life. Turmoil at work, however, means that unexpectedly for everyone, including himself, he sets off on an unusual journey in search of the lost negative of photography. Along the way, he visits beautiful locations around the world, learns how to admire the world, and on the road also experiences extraordinary adventures, including fighting a shark or escaping on a skateboard before a volcanic eruption.
It is a positive, but not too shallow or kitschy tale, and basically the same can be said about the music accompanying the movie. Among the performers creating its soundtrack were José González, a group Junip, which also includes this musician and the band Of Monsters and Men. Most of the songs are melodic, melancholic compositions, pop-guitar ones, with Scandinavian genesis.
I joyfully listen to songs from this movie when I want to calm down or just relax. They help clear the mind. In addition, they are simply beautiful and touching. You can see for yourself of this by listening to the album, inspired by the film or the one that is not a collection of songs, but music compositions accompanying individual scenes. Knives out
The second and last movie on this list from last year is a very well-received detective story directed by Rian Johnson, with a climate that clearly refers to the work of Agatha Christie. It had to succeed, because the sensational script, was not only perfectly filmed and directed, but also perfectly played. One could not expect anything else if the cast included Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Don Johnson, Ana de Armas, Christopher Plummer, as well as other great actors.
The story presented in the movie is full of suspense and twists, and at the same time takes place in the classic residence of a very well-off family. Could any music other than classical build a climate here? I doubt it. The piano, string instruments and others were connected by Nathan Johnson in such a way that the viewer or listener is constantly accompanied by a feeling of delicate anxiety. Not very intense, somewhere in the background, but not disappearing even for a split second. Sometimes intensifying, sometimes allowing a little respite, but always present in some way. It is really worth sinking in these sounds and experiencing this feeling on your own skin.
American Hustle
The story of the scam, the FBI and an attempt to restore Atlantic City's splendor described in a pretty good script. In addition, the cast with Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Bradley Cooper in the foreground, and in the background other great actors, so the story was played superbly. Beautiful shots depicting the climate of the late 1970s. Would it be enough for me to love this 2013 movie? It is quite possible.
However, it so happened that in addition to all this it offered much more, namely an excellent soundtrack. Performers like Duke Ellington, Elton John, Electric Light Orchestra, Wings, Bee Gees, Donna Summer, Tom Jones and America appeared on it, and I didn't even list all the artists. Real stars and their hits, which despite the passage of years do not lose their quality at all. And so, in the case of this film, the music was not created especially for his needs, or even embedded in it properly, as in the case of Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood. It's just that ... It doesn't matter. This music is so good itself and at the same time naturally fits the movie so well that you don't need anything more. Anyway, just listen to it.
That's it. If you don't want to once again listen to playlists, which are more or less random jumbles of different songs, and you prefer to listen to something longer, which is a coherent whole, reach for one of the above soundtracks, and preferably all of them. You probably won't regret it.

Globalizacja! Internet! Inne duże słowa! Wszystko to sprawiło, że pewne rzeczy powszednieją i docierają już niemal do wszystkich. Wszyscy słuchamy tego samego, zachwycamy się tą samą muzyką i nucimy te same piosenki, prawda?
Cóż, może nie do końca. Jeśli sięgnąć gdzieś poza "Toss a coin to your witcher" i szczyty list przebojów na Spotify i Tidalu, może uda się odkryć coś nieoczywistego. Warto ich szukać, bo ileż można słuchać tego samego? Gdzieś tam są rzeczy znane mniejszemu gronu odbiorców, a niektóre może prawie nikomu. Poniżej prezentuję listę kilku wspaniałych, a właśnie mniej popularnych artystów i dorzucam garaść wspomnień. To oczywiście nie znaczy, że na pewno ich nie znacie. Zresztą, nie ma co zwlekać - przekonajmy się. Uszeregowałem ich umownie według popularności, tj. od największej do najmniejszej liczby polubień na Facebooku i są to nie tylko aktywni aktualnie wykonawcy.

W porównaniu z innymi wymienionymi tu zespołami ten jest akurat całkiem popularny, ale na przykład spośród moich znajomych chyba mało kto o nim słyszał (a jeżeli tak, to ewentualnie ode mnie). Zresztą umówmy się: niecały milion polubień przy na przykład prawie 36 milionach Metalliki, ponad 76 milionach Justina Biebera czy 86,5 miliona Eminema to nie jest dużo. Nawet Kamil Bednarek (prawie 1,4 miliona) i kilku innych polskich artystów mają ich więcej.
Tutaj natomiast mówimy o rodzeństwie z Australii grającym indie pop z domieszką folku. Duże znaczenie ma gitara, ale w użyciu są też inne, często nieoczywiste instrumenty. Oprócz rodzeństwa na scenie pojawiają się też inni muzycy, ale to właśnie Julia i Angus są w centrum uwagi, Oboje śpiewają, choć ona więcej, ale oboje też grają. Jako zespół występują od 2006 r.
W jaki sposób poznałem ten zespół? Ha, nie mam pojęcia. To jedna z zagadek, których nie umiem rozwikłać. Nie jest to jednak bardzo istotne - najważniejsze, że do tego doszło, a ja mogę się zachwycać ich muzyką. Był okres, w którym towarzyszli mi niemal codziennie - teraz już odrobinę rzadziej, ale nadal bardzo chętnie do nich wracam. Prawie dwa lata temu udało mi się nawet być na ich koncercie w warszawskiej Stodole, zresztą pierwszym w Polsce.

Akurat to, jak usłyszałem o tym austriackim zespole, pamiętam dość dobrze. Zauważyłem, że kolega z pracy wyraził zainteresowanie koncertem tych artystów w Krakowie, choć akurat byliśmy na delegacji w Warszawie. Podpytałem co to, posłuchałem i od tamtej pory, choć nie słucham tej muzyki regularnie, to co jakiś czas wracam do wybranych utworów.
Co do zespołu: rozwinięcie skrótu to Her Voice Over Boys i jest to duet od 2012 r. grający muzykę elektroniczną. Od tamtej pory zdążyli wydać między innymi cztery albumy. Ich twórczość jest hipnotyzująca, rytmiczna, świetna do pracy, ale nie tylko. Może pomóc wyciszyć się, uspokoić czy zrelaksować. To naprawdę kojące dźwięki. Zresztą posłuchajcie sami:
4. Ocean/OCN (21 997 polubień)
To polski rockowy zespół, który powstał w 2001 r., kiedyś nazywał się Ocean, potem OCN, a teraz od kilku lat nie widać go na muzycznej scenie.Wcześniej dynamicznie zmieniał się jego skład. Szkoda, ale tak czasem bywa. Zawsze można posłuchać - co prawda z siedmiu wydanych albumów tylko cztery znajdują się na Spotify (i to drugi i trzeci jako Ocean oraz szósty i siódmy jako OCN), ale chyba wszystkie są do wytropienia na YouTube'ie.
Niektórzy z Was mogą kojarzyć zespół z relatywnie popularnego swego czasu singla "Definicja", nagranego z Jamalem, który był polską wersją utworu "Waterfall" zespołu. Ja natomiast poznałem ich, ponieważ jeden z moich znajomych bardzo się nimi ekscytował w liceum - udało mu się nawet ze swoim ówczesnym zespołem zagrać przed nimi support. Wtedy to właśnie po raz pierwszy usłyszałem Ocean/OCN na żywo i byłem pod dużym wrażeniem mocnego, prawdziwie rockowego brzmienia. Da się je usłyszeć z wielu utworów zespołu, aczkolwiek wśród ich dorobku znajdą się też zdecydowanie bardziej balladowe, rzewne piosenki. Dla porównania wrzucam dwa utwory:

Przyznam się, że spodziewałem się nawet mniejszej liczby polubień profilu tego zespołu i myślałem, że znajdzie się on na dole tej listy, ale nie i to bardzo miłe zaskoczenie. Jak o nim usłyszałem? Nie jestem pewien, ale wydaje mi się, że było to tak: wrzesień 2014, urodziny miasta Katowice. Poszedłem tam na The Dumplings, którzy jeszcze wtedy nie byli zbyt znani - pod sceną znalazło się chyba około dwudziestu osób. Zanim jednak wystąpił duet z Zabrza, na scenie grało dwóch młodych chłopaczków i choć słyszałem ich wówczas tylko przez chwilę, to zdążyłem się zachwycić. Zespół powstał w 2013 r. w Katowicach i zaczynał jako duet, potem przez chwilę należały do niego trzy osoby, by później wrócić do pierwotnego składu.
Co prawda od roku nie było za bardzo o nich słychać, ale warto mieć nadzieję, że to się zmieni. Wcześniej zdążyli zagrać sporo koncertów, w tym na dużych festiwalach, wygrać międzynarodowy konkurs Converse Rubber Tracks oraz nagrać dwie EPki i trzy single. No dobrze, ale jaka jest ich muzyka? Piękna. Poruszająca. To alternatywa? Elektronika? Coś takiego, ale w sumie trudno powiedzieć. W dzisiejszych czasach katalogowanie muzyki bardzo często mija się z celem. Najprościej chyba będzie, jeśli posłuchacie sami:

Niestety, w 2013 r. zawiesili działalność, ale nadal można posłuchać nagrań. Jak brzmią? Oryginalnie. Charakterystyczny wokal, wyraźnie słyszalna perkusja, czasem duża dynamika, a czasem konieczne spowolnienie. Czy to indie rock? Podobno. Na pewno warto sprawdzić:

Globalization! Internet! Other big words! All this meant that some things became widespread, reaching almost everyone. We all listen to the same, admire the same music and hum the same songs, right?
Well, maybe not quite. If you reach somewhere beyond "Toss a coin to your witcher" and other top songs on Spotify and Tidal, you may discover something unobvious. It is worth looking for it, because how long can you listen to the same music? Somewhere there are things known to a smaller audience, and some maybe to almost no one. Below I present a list of some amazing, but not very popular artists and add some memories. This, of course, does not mean that you certainly do not know any of them. Anyway, there is no reason to wait - let's find out. I sorted them according to popularity, i.e. from the largest to the smallest number of Facebook likes and they are not only currently active artists.

6. Angus & Julia Stone (998 311 likes)
Compared to the other bands mentioned here, this one is quite popular, but for example, among my friends, hardly anyone has heard of it (and if so, possibly from me). Anyway, let's agree: less than a million likes compared with, for example, Metallica's almost 36 million, Justin Bieber's over 76 million or Eminem's 86.5 million is not a lot. Even Kamil Bednarek (almost 1.4 million) and several other Polish artists have more of them.
Here we are talking about siblings from Australia playing indie pop with an admixture of folk. The guitar is of great importance, but other, often not obvious instruments are also in use. In addition to siblings, other musicians also appear on stage, but it is Julia and Angus who are in the spotlight, They both sing (although she does it more often) and also they both play. They've been performing as a band since 2006.
How did I discover this band? Well, I have no idea. This is one of the riddles that I can't solve. However, this is not very important - the main thing is that it happened and I can admire their music. There was a period when they accompanied me almost every day - now a little less often, but I still come back to them very willingly. Almost two years ago I even managed to take part in their first concert in Poland, in Warsaw Stodoła and it was amazing experience!
The band has recorded two EPs, four studio albums (the latest from 2017) and some other releases and it's really worth listening to. As an encouragement, one of my favorite songs performed by them - you can find it above.
5. HVOB (87 760 likes)
In case of this Austrian band I remember quite well how I have heard about it. I noticed that a colleague from work expressed interest in the concert of these artists in Krakow, although we were just on a delegation in Warsaw. I asked what it was, listened to it and since then, although I don't listen to this music regularly, I come back to selected songs from time to time.
As for the band: HVOB stands for Her Voice Over Boys and it is a duo playing electronic music since 2012. Since then, they have released four albums, among other recordings. Their songs are mesmerizing, rhythmic, great for work, but not only. It can help you calm down or relax. These are really soothing sounds. Listen for yourself - you can find an example above.
4. Ocean / OCN (21 997 likes)
This is a Polish rock band that was formed in 2001. It was once called Ocean, then OCN, and now it has not been seen on the music scene for several years. Earlier, its members have been changing dynamically. It is a pity, but sometimes it happens. You can always listen to its music - admittedly, of the seven albums released only four are on Spotify (the second and third as Ocean and the sixth and seventh as OCN), but probably all can be traced on YouTube. Most of the songs are in Polish, but there are also some in English.
People in Poland may associate the band with the relatively popular single "Definicja", recorded with Jamal, which was the Polish version of the band's song called "Waterfall". However, I heard about them because one of my friends was very excited about them when we were in high school - he even managed to support them at one concert with his band at the time. It was then that I heard Ocean / OCN live for the first time and was very impressed with the strong, truly rock sound. You can hear it in many of the band's songs, but they also recorded some tender ballads. For comparison, I posted here two different songs - you can find them above.
3. JÓGA (11,350 likes)
I admit that I expected there would be even fewer likes of this band's Facebook profile and thought that it would be at the bottom of this list, but no and it is a very pleasant surprise. How did I hear about it? I'm not sure, but I think it was like this: September 2014, the birthday of the city of Katowice. I went to listen to The Dumplings, not very well known yet at the time - there were probably about twenty people under the stage. However, before the duo from Zabrze performed, two young guys played on the stage and although I only heard them for a moment, I was delighted. The band was formed in 2013 in Katowice and started as a duo, then for a moment three people belonged to it, and later they returned to their original composition.
It is true that for a year it has not been heard about the JÓGA very much, but it is worth hoping that this will change. Earlier they managed to play a lot of concerts, including at large festivals, win the international Converse Rubber Tracks competition and record two EPs and three singles. Okay, but what is their music like? Beautiful. Touching. Is this an alternative? Electronics? Something like that, but it's hard to say. Nowadays, cataloging music is often pointless. The easiest way will probably be if you listen for yourself - you can find the song "Pod prąd" above. It is in Polish, but the band also has some music in English. You should definitely listen to the song "bones" and also watch the music video - I really encourage you.

In the case of this band, I don't have the slightest doubt about how I heard about it - it was thanks to the wonderful Spotify algorithms. The platform added some of its songs to my playlists, and because shortly after that I was going by train to Warsaw for Easter and back, I had a lot of time traveling to listen to this wonderful music.
The band was formed in 2005 as a collaboration of a Polish woman and two musicians of Dutch-American and Danish-English origin. The artists toured all over Europe, released two official albums, and one more before, one EP and three singles. They also won Frederick (Fryderyk - the most prestigious Polish music award) and the Polityka's passport. Unfortunately, in 2013 they suspended their activities, but you can still listen to the recordings. How do they sound? Originally. Characteristic vocals, clearly audible drums, sometimes high dynamics, and sometimes slow down. Is that indie rock? Supposedly. It's definitely worth checking out - above you can find one of my favourite songs of them.

Byliśmy wczoraj z żoną na ślubie
i weselu. Ważne wydarzenie, bo żenił się mój długoletni kumpel, który w dodatku
był świadkiem na moim ślubie. Co ciekawe, to pierwszy raz, gdy wybraliśmy się
na taką imprezę jako małżeństwo.
Bycie po własnym ślubie pozwala
inaczej spojrzeć na całą uroczystość. Obserwowaliśmy Państwa Młodych, gdy
wyczekiwali w kościele, przysłuchiwaliśmy się ich głosom przy składaniu
przysięgi. Potem patrzyliśmy jak przygotowywali się do pierwszego tańca, kroili
tort czy stali i czekali aż wszyscy zrobią sobie z nimi zdjęcia. My, kilka
miesięcy temu będąc w podobnych sytuacjach, mogliśmy się z dużą dozą prawdopodobieństwa
domyślać, co czują. Podejrzewaliśmy kiedy mogli być zestresowani, zirytowani,
podekscytowani. Gdy wcześniej bywaliśmy na weselach jako goście, mogliśmy próbować
zgadywać emocje Państwa Młodych, ale nie mieliśmy żadnego punktu odniesienia.
Teraz miałem poczucie znacznie lepszego ich zrozumienia. Zmieniła się
perspektywa.
W trakcie wesela jeden z moich
kumpli został poproszony o pomoc. Zniknął na jakiś czas, po czym pojawił się z
gitarą, usiadł na krzesełku na środku sali i zaczął grać. Obok niego przycupnął
Pan Młody i zabrał się za śpiew. To było coś autentycznie pięknego. Zachwyciłem
się, choć przecież znałem talenty moich kumpli. Sama piosenka, choć śpiewana po
polsku, brzmiała znajomo. Rozpoznałem melodię i przypomniałem sobie jak
pierwszy wers brzmiał po angielsku, ale początkowo nie byłem w stanie ustalić,
co to za utwór. Wreszcie razem z żoną przypomnieliśmy sobie, że to „Shallow” z
filmu „Narodziny gwiazdy”.
Tutaj z kolei smaczkiem jest to,
że gdy pierwszy raz usłyszałem ten utwór, nie zachwycił mnie jakoś szczególnie.
Stwierdziłem, że jest ok, ale bez szału. Nie czułem też potrzeby obejrzenia
filmu. Gdy jednak usłyszałem ten utwór w polskiej wersji, na żywo, w wykonaniu
moich utalentowanych kumpli, stwierdziłem, że jest zachwycający. Od teraz będę
przychylniejszy oryginałowi, a nawet kusi mnie, żeby obejrzeć film. Zmieniła
się perspektywa.

Te anegdotyczne przykłady
doskonale obrazują pewną prawdę. Nie jest ona może szczególnie odkrywcza, ale
ważna. Chodzi o to, że to, jak widzimy daną sprawę, może zmieniać się wraz ze
zbieraniem kolejnych doświadczeń życiowych. To jak z wycieczką w góry: na
początku trasy widzimy szczyt z jakiejś perspektywy lub w ogóle wydaje się on niedostępny,
ale wraz ze wspinaczką widok się zmienia. Szczyt może okazać się jeszcze
piękniejszy czy majestatyczny. Czasem można też odkryć, że wcale nie jest tak
trudny do zdobycia, jak się wydawało. Im więcej doświadczamy, tym więcej
sytuacji znamy i jesteśmy w stanie wczuć się w jakąś sytuację.
Nie wiem, czy można z tego
wyciągnąć jakiś użyteczny wniosek. Zawsze warto jednak rozważyć zbieranie najróżniejszych
doświadczeń. To otwiera oczy. Pamiętajcie też o tym, że nawet jeśli teraz
postrzegacie pewne sprawy w określony sposób, to zawsze może to się zmienić.

Me and my wife took part in a wedding and reception yesterday. An important event, because my longtime friend got married, and he was also my best man before. Interestingly, this is the first time we went to such an event as a married couple.
Being after your own wedding allows you to look differently at the whole ceremony. We watched the bride and groom while they waited in the church, listened to their voices when taking the oath. Then we watched them prepare for the first dance, cut the cake or stood waiting for everyone to take pictures with them. We, being a few months ago in similar situations, could guess what they feel with a high probability. We suspected when they could be stressed, irritated, excited. When we used to attend weddings as guests before, we could try to guess the emotions of the Bride and Groom, but we didn't have any point of reference. Now I had a better understanding of them. The perspective has changed.
During the wedding, one of my friends was asked for help. He disappeared for a while, then appeared with a guitar, sat down on a chair in the middle of the room and began to play. Next to him crouched the groom and began to sing. It was something truly beautiful. I was delighted, even though I knew my friends' talents. The song itself, though sung in Polish, sounded familiar. I recognized the melody and remembered how the first verse sounded in English, but at first I couldn't figure out what the song was. Finally, my wife and I remembered that it was "Shallow" from the movie "A Star Is Born".
Here, in turn, the funny thing is that when I first heard this song, I was not particularly impressed. I found it OK, but not awesome. I also didn't feel the need to watch the movie. However, when I heard this song in the Polish version, live, performed by my talented buddies, I found it delightful. From now on I will be more favorable to the original and I am even tempted to watch the movie. The perspective has changed.
These anecdotal examples perfectly illustrate a certain truth. It is not particularly revealing, but important. The point is that how we see a given case can change as we gather more life experiences. It's like a trip to the mountains: at the beginning of the route we see the summit from some perspective or it seems inaccessible at all, but with climbing the view changes. The summit may turn out to be even more beautiful or majestic. Sometimes you can also discover that it is not as difficult to reach as it seemed. The more we experience, the more situations we know and we become able to empathize with them.
I do not know if any useful conclusion can be drawn from this. However, it is always worth considering collecting various experiences. It opens your eyes. Also remember that even if you now perceive certain things in a certain way, it can always change.

Wraz z żoną wróciliśmy dzisiaj rano z festiwalu Pol'and'Rock. Gdy piszę te słowa, jedziemy akurat na chwilę do Krakowa, więc jesteśmy trochę zabiegani i zmęczeni. W związku z tym wpis będzie krótki.
O festiwalu. Gdy czasem w rozmowach pojawia się jego temat, niektórzy moi znajomi, np. z pracy, zaczynają się śmiać, że to tylko błoto, brud i śmieci, a także ewentualnie narkotyki. Podobna narracja pojawia się często w pewnych mediach, a także używana jest przez niektóre grupy społeczne, tzw. obrońców tradycyjnych wartości itd. Jedno jest w tym najzabawniejsze / najsmutniejsze. Co takiego? To, że niemal zawsze są to wypowiedzi ludzi, którzy nigdy w życiu nie byli na tym festiwalu.
Ja w tym roku byłem tam po raz ósmy. I owszem, jest trochę bałaganu i błota, bo to nieuniknione przy kilkuset tysiącach ludzi na polu i w lesie. Zdecydowana większość ludzi stara się jednak po sobie sprzątać i zbierać śmieci do worków od razu albo na koniec festiwalu. Błota też można skutecznie unikać (co robię od lat). Narkotyki? Jeśli ktoś ich szuka, to pewnie je znajdzie. Ja nigdy nie szukałem. Trzeba samemu być odpowiedzialnym.
To, czego te wszystkie osoby nie powiedzą, a media nie pokażą, to cała reszta. Świetne koncerty w dużych ilościach, które do dobrej muzyki dokładają wspaniałą atmosferę. Wspólnota ludzi, którzy w zdecydowanej większości pomagają sobie jak tylko mogą. Błyskawicznie podnoszą przewracających się w pogo. Podnoszą do góry niepełnosprawnych. Pomagają szukać zaginionych rzeczy. Dzielą się jedzeniem, alkoholem i papierosami. Poza tym festiwal to także spotkania z ciekawymi, mądrymi gośćmi - my w tym roku słuchaliśmy Zbigniewa Zamachowskiego. Znajdziecie tam też warsztaty z robienia ekotoreb czy łapaczy snów, przeciwdziałania przemocy, różnych tańców i wiele, wiele innych. To po prostu miejsce przepełnione dobrocią.

W kwestii tego festiwalu, ale też każdej innej: jeśli samodzielnie nie zweryfikowałeś plotek, to może lepiej milcz. Nie odzywaj się, jeśli nie wiesz jak jest naprawdę. W ten sposób unikniesz kompromitacji i nie pokażesz innym jak łatwowierną osobą jesteś i jak wąskie są Twoje horyzonty. Nie opieraj się też raczej o to, że widziałeś jakieś materiały wideo. Ich twórcy musieliby przede wszystkim chcieć zachować obiektywizm. Nawet gdyby próbowali, to może im się to nie udać, bo stworzenie całkowicie bezstronnej treści jest bardzo trudne. Gdy do tego mówimy np. o kilkudziesięciu sekundach na wielki i złożony festiwal, wydaje się to już zupełnie niemożliwe. Dlatego właśnie przekonaj się sam lub nie zabieraj głosu. Zrobisz jednak oczywiście jak zechcesz.

My wife and I came back this morning from the Pol'and'Rock festival. As I write these words, we are just going to Krakow for a moment, so we are a bit busy and tired. Therefore, this entry will be short.
About the festival. When this subject sometimes appears in conversations, some of my friends, e.g. from work, start to laugh that it is just mud, dirt and garbage, and possibly drugs. A similar narrative often appears in certain media and is also used by some social groups, the so-called defenders of traditional values, etc. One thing about that is the funniest / saddest. What? The fact that those are almost always statements of people who have never been to this festival.
This year I was there for the eighth time. And yes, there is a bit of mud and dirt, because it's inevitable with a few hundred thousand people in the field and in the forest. The vast majority of people, however, try to clean up after themselves and collect trash to the bags immediately or at the end of the festival. The mud can also be effectively avoided (which I have been doing for years). Drugs? If someone is looking for them, he or she will probably find them. I have never looked for. You have to be responsible for yourself.
What all these people will not say and the media will not show is the rest. Great concerts in large numbers, which add a great atmosphere to good music. A community of people who mostly help each other as much as they can. They quickly raise the ones falling in the mosh pit. They pick the disabled up in the crowd to enable them see. They help looking for missing things. They share food, alcohol and cigarettes. In addition, the festival also includes meetings with interesting, smart guests - we listened to Zbigniew Zamachowski this year. You can also find workshops on making eco-bags or dream catchers, counteracting violence, various dances and many, many more. It's just a place full of goodness.
With regard to this festival, but also to anything else: if you have not verified gossip yourself, then maybe you'd better keep silent. Do not talk if you do not know how it really is. In this way you will avoid discredit and you will not show others how gullible you are and how narrow your horizons are. Also, do not lean on the fact that you have seen any video. First of all, their creators would have to want remain objective. Even if they tried, they might not be able to do it, because creating completely impartial content is very difficult. When we talk about, for example, a few dozens seconds for a big and complex festival, it seems completely impossible. That's why you can see for yourself or stop talking. You will, of course, do as you like.

Miewacie może tak, że coś jest jakąś tam częścią waszego życia, mniej lub bardziej ważną, na pewno jednak naturalną, stałą, ale w sumie to nie wiecie nawet, kiedy się to zaczęło? Chodzi o to, że coś teraz jest stałym elementem waszej rzeczywistości, ale choćbyście nie wiadomo jak bardzo próbowali przypomnieć sobie, skąd to się wzięło, nie dacie rady. To po prostu jest i już.
U mnie dobry przykład to Angus & Julia Stone. To australijskie rodzeństwo grające... Indie/folk/pop? Chyba, ale pewien nie jestem. To zresztą nieważne. Ważne, że urzekają mnie swoją muzyką. W zeszłym roku byłem na ich koncercie w warszawskiej Stodole, na ostatanie Boże Narodzenie dostałem ich płytę, mogę ich słuchać godzinami, a w sumie nie wiem nawet, kiedy się to zaczęło. Zastanawiam się nad tym, bo w zasadzie nikt z moich bliskich znajomych raczej ich nie słucha. Nie jest więc chyba tak, że ktoś mi ich polecił. W takim razie może to algorytmy Spotify'a albo YouTube'a? To najbardziej prawdopodobne wyjaśnienie, ale chyba nieweryfikowalne. Pamiętam jedynie, że najpierw słuchałem tylko kilku piosenek tego zespołu, potem liczba ta stale się zwiększała, a teraz trudno o dzień, w którym nie słucham ich choć przez chwilę. Skąd jednak wzięły się te pierwsze utwory? Nie mam pojęcia.
A koncert był piękny...
Chciałem napisać, że to w gruncie rzeczy nieistotne. Że nie ma znaczenia, skąd się coś wzięło. Ważne, że jest i sprawia nam radość albo wkurza nas. Jeśli to pierwsze, to wszystko jest w porządku. Jeśli drugie, to trzeba się od tego jak najszybciej odciąć i tyle. Prosta sprawa. Nie ma sensu zastanawianie się nad pochodzeniem pojedynczych elementów naszego życia.
Doszedłem jednak do wniosku, że wcale tak nie jest. To, w jaki sposób pojawiła się pasja, powiedzenie, nawyk czy ulubiony wytwór kultury, ma znaczenie. Jeśli bowiem mówimy o czymś, co odbieramy pozytywnie, przypomnienie sobie genezy tego może sprawić, że odkryjemy kolejne, podobne rzeczy. Jeśli w jakiś sposób poznaliśmy wspaniały zespół muzyczny, możemy podobnie odkryć kolejne. Jeśli pokochaliśmy jakiś sport, może spodoba nam się także inny, podobny. I odwrotnie, jeśli utknęło nam w głowie jakiś głupie, powoli coraz bardziej nienawidzone powiedzonko lub zmagamy się z irytującym nawykiem/uzależnieniem, zrozumienie jego genezy może pomóc w wyplenieniu go. Tak mi się przynajmniej wydaje. Przecież zadanie sobie pytania "Dlaczego zacząłem tak robić/mówić?" i udzielenie odpowiedzi na nie może pomóc też w odpowiedzeniu na pytanie: "Dlaczego mogę przestać?".
Może warto więc od czasu do czasu zatrzymać się na moment i pochylić się nad jakimś szczegółem ze swojego życia? Spojrzeć na spokojnie na pojedynczy element swojej codzienności i zadać sobie pytanie: "Skąd się to tu właściwie wzięło?". Potem warto zastanowić się, czy to dobre, czy złe i na tej podstawie podjąć odpowiednie działania. To takie poprawianie swojej rzeczywistości małymi krokami. Chyba warto spróbować.

It can be some passion, habit, sayings, music, favorite movie or anything else. It's not important. The point is that something is now a constant part of your reality, but you cannot remind yourself where it came from. It is already here.
For me, a good example is Angus & Julia Stone. They are siblings froms Australia playing... Indie / folk / pop? I guess so, but I'm not sure. It does not matter, anyway. It's important that they captivate me with their music. Last year I was at their concert in Warsaw's Stodola, and last Christmas I got their CD, I can listen to them for hours, and I do not even know when it started. I wonder about it, because basically no one from my close friends really listens to them. So it is not like someone recommended them to me. In that case, maybe it's Spotify or YouTube algorithm? This is the most probable explanation, but probably unverifiable. I only remember that at first I listened to only a few songs of this band, then the number was constantly increasing, and now it is difficult to have a day when I do not listen to them for at least a moment. Where did these first songs come from? I have no idea.
I wanted to write that it was basically irrelevant. That it does not matter where it came from. It is important that it is and makes us happy or annoys us. If it's the first case, it's all right. If the second one, you have to cut yourself off as soon as possible. A simple matter. There is no point in thinking about the origin of individual elements of our lives.
However, I came to the conclusion that it is not like that. The way the passion, sayings, habit or favorite product of culture has appeared in our lives is important. If we are talking about something that we like, remembering the genesis of it can make us discover other similar things. If we've somehow got to know a great music band, we can similarly discover more of them. If we've loved some sport, maybe we'll like another, similar one. And vice versa, if we have stupid, more and more hated saying stuck in our heads or we are struggling with an irritating habit / addiction, understanding its genesis may help to eradicate it. At least I think so. After all, asking yourself the question "Why did I start doing / saying this?" and answering it can help in answering the question: "Why can I stop?".
Perhaps it is worth to stop for a moment and bend over some detail from your life? Look calmly at the single element of your everyday life and ask yourself: "Where did this come from?" Then it's worth considering whether it's good or bad and take appropriate action on that basis. It's just improving your reality in small steps. I think it's worth a try.

Byłem wczoraj na Męskim Graniu w Katowicach. To znaczy: to nie do końca prawda, ponieważ leżałem na kocu za płotem wydzielającym teren wydarzenia. Nie to, że poskąpiłem na bilet. Po prostu do pewnej godziny i tak nie mogłem tam być. Zresztą ponoć zdobycie biletów wcale nie było łatwe.
W każdym razie na koniec, jak zwykle zresztą, wystąpiła Męskie Granie Orkiestra. Zespół pod przewodnictwem Krzysztofa Zalewskiego, a oprócz niego Dawida Podsiadły i Korteza, wraz z zaproszonymi gośćmi wykonał, też jak zwykle, znane utwory znanych polskich muzyków w nowych aranżacjach. Tym razem sporo było trochę nowszych rzeczy. Artyści wzięli na warsztat między innymi piosenkę "Chłopcy" grupy Myslovitz, "Peron" Jamala, "Grandę" Brodki czy "Szare Miraże" Maanamu. Jednym mogło się podobać, innym nie. Męskie Granie Orkiestra słynie jednak z tego typu działalności, więc nikt przynajmniej nie mógł się czuć zaskoczony, a tym bardziej oburzony. Przykładem, z którym się spotkałem tuż przed albo tuż po koncercie Męskiego Grania Orkiestry jest nagranie przez Katarzynę Nosowską wraz z ZAMILSKĄ nowej, bardziej elektronicznej wersji piosenki "Jeśli wiesz co chcę powiedzieć" autorstwa pierwszej z pań (wydanej 22 lata temu). I co? I przykładowy komentarz pod artykułem Antyradia na ten temat brzmi:
"Mam wrażenie że Kaśka chce zaprezentować eksperyment społeczny pod tytułem "co mi ujdzie na sucho tylko dlatego, że jestem Nosowską"."
Kilka innych komentarzy jest też w tonie "hurr durr, jak można!". Posłuchałem sam. Raz. Nie jestem jakoś szczególnie przekonany do tej wersji. Być może muszę się jeszcze osłuchać i za jakiś czas bardzo mi się spodoba. Nie wiem. W każdym razie istnieje jednak wolność artystyczna. Pozwala ona na wzięcie czegoś, co stworzył ktoś inny i na tej podstawie wykreowanie czegoś autorskiego. Ten mechanizm działa tym bardziej, gdy bierze się coś, co samemu stworzyło się wcześniej. W końcu proces kreatywny nie zawsze musi zaczynać się od zera. Przykładów jest mnóstwo, a pomijając samodzielne redefiniowanie swoich utworów, czasem autorzy oryginalnych utworów wręcz proszą o to innych. Najlepszym przykładem może być projekt T.Cover, w którym najróżniejsi polscy artyści nagrywali swoje wersje największych hitów zespołu T.Love.
Męskie Granie zza płotu.
Hmm... W takim razie skąd taka niechęć? Skąd przekonanie, że coś, co jest zrobione w innym gatunku niż ten, który mi się podoba, jest złe? Że indywidualna negatywna ocena utworu przekłada się na to, że jest on obiektywnie słaby? Z czego wynika sprzeciw wobec międzygatunkowych współprac artystów? W końcu to oni są profesjonalistami. To oni mają swoją wrażliwość i, jeśli są uczciwi, tworzą to, co podoba się im. Gust słuchaczy zawsze powinien być dopiero na drugim miejscu. Mimo to często pojawia się przekonanie, że pewne utwory to swego rodzaju świętości, których nikt nie powinien dotykać. Gdy jednak czasem jakiś zdolny muzyk jednak się na to porwie, wtedy słychać jak bardzo błędne było to myślenie.
Myślę, że opór przed nowymi wersjami starych hitów podszyty jest przede wszystkim strachem przed nowościami w ogóle i niechęcią do zmian. Powszechna opinia jest taka, że to co było kiedyś, było lepsze. Twierdzą tak niemal wszyscy, tylko inaczej definiują "kiedyś". To całkiem urocza, ale jednak ułuda. Fakt, kiedyś było sporo dobrych utworów, ale przecież nie wszystkie były wybitne. Tak samo jest teraz. Jeśli teraz na nowo nagrywa się utwory Perfectu czy Maanamu, to za kilkanaście lub kilkadziesiąt lat to samo może spotkać utwory Organka czy Krzysztofa Zalewskiego. Cover wcale nie musi być gorszy od oryginału.
A jakie jest wasze zdanie? Lubicie nowe aranże? A może są dla was niedopuszczalne? Dajcie znać, zareagujcie czy cokolwiek. W końcu mam dzisiaj urodziny :)

I took part in Męskie Granie (Male Playing - an annual music tour with polish artists) in Katowice yesterday. Well, it is not entirely true, because I was lying on the blanket behind the fence separating the area of the event. It is not like I didn't want to buy a ticket, but I was not able to be there on time anyway. What is more, i heard it was not easy to get the tickets at all.
In any case, at the end, as usual, the Męskie Granie Orchestra appeared. The group was led this time by Krzysztof Zalewski, and in addition to him, Dawid Podsiadło and Kortez. They, along with invited guests, performed, as usual, well-known songs of well-known Polish musicians in new arrangements. There were also newer tracks this time. The artists performed, among others, the song "Chłopcy" of the Myslovitz group, "Peron" by Jamal, Brodka's "Granda" and "Szare miraże" of Maanam band. Some people could be pleased, the other not. Męskie Granie Orchestra is famous for this type of activity, so at least nobody could be surprised or indignant. Very often, however, such new arrangements of older songs evoke a lot of negative emotions.
An example with which I met just before or just after the concert of the Męskie Granie Orchestra is recording by Katarzyna Nosowska (famous rock singer) along with ZAMILSKA (new techno star) a new, more electronic version of the song "Jeśli wiesz co chcę powiedzieć" written by the first one 22 years ago. And what? The exemplary comment under the Antyradio's article on this subject is:
"I have the impression that Kaśka wants to present a social experiment entitled "With what can I get away, just because I'm Nosowska. "
A few other comments are also in the tone "woo, hoo, how dare you!". I listened to the song. One time. I am not particularly convinced to this version. Maybe I have to listen it more and then I will like it more. I do not know. In any case, there is artistic freedom. It allows you to take something that someone else created and on the basis to create something authoring. This mechanism works all the more when you take something that you have created yourself before. After all, the creative process does not always have to start from scratch. There are a lot of examples, and apart from self-redefining your songs, sometimes the authors of original songs even ask others to do it. The best example is the T.Cover project, in which various Polish artists recorded their versions of the biggest hits of the T.Love band.
Well... Then where the reluctance comes from? Where is the source of the conviction that something that is done in a different genre than the one I like is bad? Does the individual negative assessment of the track translates into the fact that it is objectively weak? What is the reason for opposition to intergenre collaboration of artists? After all, they are professionals. They have their sensitivity and, if they are honest, they create what they like. The audience's taste should always be in second place. Nevertheless, there is a common belief that certain works are a kind of sanctity that no one should touch. However, when a talented musician starts to work with it, then it can be easily heard how wrong this thinking was.
I think that resistance to new versions of old hits is first of all a fear of new products and aversion to change. The common opinion is that what was once was better. Almost everybody claims that and they only define "once" differently. It's quite lovely, but it's a delusion. Fact, there used to be a lot of good songs, but not all of them were outstanding. It's the same now. If the songs of Perfect or Maanam are recorded anew, in a a few years or decades the works of Organek or Krzysztof Zalewski can be also rerecorded. The cover does not have to be worse than the original.

Taka sytuacja: byłem w zeszłym tygodniu na koncercie. Po raz pierwszy w warszawskiej Stodole. Zagrali Angus & Julia Stone, australijskie rodzeństwo na pierwszym występie w Polsce. Przed nimi wystąpił oczywiście support. Konkretnie: Vancouver Sleep Clinic. Zespół ten wyszedł zgodnie
z harmonogramem na scenę i właśnie w tym momencie stojąca obok mnie dziewczyna zapytała swego towarzysza:
"- A gdzie jest ONA?"
Ona, czyli Julia Stone. Wspaniałe zainteresowanie tematem, jeśli ktoś dziwi się, że w porze supportu nie wychodzi na scenę wokalistka głównego zespołu. Pomijam już to, że właściwie przed każdym koncertem zagranicznego artysty występuje support. Pomijam, że na facebookowym wydarzeniu podana była szczegółowa, godzinowa rozpiska wydarzenia wraz z informacją, jaki support wystąpi. Oprócz tego wszystkiego bowiem przy wejściu do klubu i na jego terenie wisiały wyraźne informacje, gdzie dużą czcionką napisano:
"20:00-20:30 Vancouver Sleep Clinic, 21:00-22:30 Angus & Julia Stone"
Wobec tego uważam, że zastanawianie się o godzinie 20:00, czemu na scenie nie ma jeszcze Julii Stone, jest ignorancją, w dodatku celową. Przecież bycie zorientowanym w planie wieczoru nie wymagało absolutnie żadnego wysiłku.

Wkurza mnie to. Niemiłosiernie denerwuje mnie taka postawa. Przecież chyba we własnym interesie jest bycie dobrze poinformowanym. Zadawanie pytań, na których zdobycie odpowiedzi w zasadzie nie wymaga wysiłku, nie dość, że nie świadczy najlepiej o pytającym, to jeszcze może wkurzać innych. W skrajnych przypadkach może prowadzić zresztą do tego, że ktoś zacznie umyślnie wprowadzać pytającego w błąd. Albo dla swoich korzyści, albo ze zwykłej złośliwości, podszytej irytacją.
Nie chodzi oczywiście o to, żeby nie ufać nikomu. Wygodniej i pewniej jest jednak zdobywać informacje samodzielnie. Zwłaszcza, jeśli wystarczy się w tym celu rozejrzeć. Pamiętajcie o tym.

Przystanek Woodstock 6 razy, kolekcja płyt w domu, pobazgrane ściany, poobklejane meble, rock'n'roll gra i huczy w sercu i w duszy. Glany lub trampki non-stop, przetarte, dziurawe, pomazane ciuchy. Wydaje się, że czasy beztroskiego szwendania się po mieście ze znajomymi, wpadania na rozmaite, niemal wszelkie możliwe koncerty, zwłaszcza niskobudżetowe, urywania się z lekcji pod pretekstami okołomuzycznymi i tak dalej, były całkiem niedawno.
I w sumie rzeczywiście, w liczbach bezwzględnych nie minęło aż tak znowu dużo czasu. Teraz jednak częściej niż glany zakładam garnitur (a nawet jeśli nie, to na pewno spędzam w nim więcej czasu niż w ciężkich butach). Niby to tylko uniform, strój służbowy. Narzędzie do wykonywania pracy, jak laptop i telefon. Niby.
Ponoć nie szata zdobi człowieka, ale czy nie wpływa na jego percepcję? Jednocześnie ze zmianą garderoby przyszły inne. Inaczej spędzam wolny czas, co może wynikać też z tego, że drastycznie zmniejszyła się jego ilość. Nastąpiły zmiany w zakresie planów, pomysłów, metod. Może bardziej dbam o profesjonalizację siebie samego, rozwój dodatkowych umiejętności. Gdy ilość czasu do dyspozycji się zmniejsza, trzeba rozsądniej gospodarować każdą chwilą. Na pewno bardziej myślę o stabilizacji, założeniu rodziny. Czy wynika to z "wskoczenia" w garnitur? Niekoniecznie. Do pewnego stopnia to po prostu zbieżność w czasie, efekt tego, że upływ lat dotyka każdej dziedziny życia. Poszczególne aspekty rzeczywistości na pewno jednak wpływają na siebie nawzajem i względna stabilizacja w jednym może skutkować pragnieniem osiągnięcia jej w kolejnych. Czy w tym wszystkim jest jeszcze miejsce na rock'n'roll grający w duszy i odrobinę szaleństwa?
Pasują do siebie? Choćby na poziomie metaforycznym?
Nieodmiennie urzeka mnie scena, której opis przeczytałem gdzieś już dość dawno temu. Otóż na przełomie lipca i sierpnia do Kostrzyna nad Odrą przyjeżdża samochód, zdaje się, że całkiem niezłej klasy. Wysiada z niego dwóch poważnych mężczyzn w garniturach i... Błyskawicznie przebierają się w T-shirty i krótkie spodenki, po czym ruszają w tłum bawiący się na Przystanku Woodstock. Można? Można!
Zastanawiam się jednak mocno nad pewnym dysonansem. Ten ogromny festiwal jest mimo wszystko kojarzony z ruchami punkowymi, lewicowymi, momentami niemal anarchistycznymi. Nie ma co ukrywać, nie są to całkiem bezpodstawne skojarzenia. Tu natomiast mamy bez wątpienia pracowników dużych korporacji, jaskrawych przykładów "krwiożerczego" kapitalizmu. Coś zgrzyta.
Tu akurat jednak szukanie dysonansu jest może trochę na siłę. Wszak podział na lewicę i prawicę mocno się zaciera. Trzeba precyzować, czy myśli się o o kwestiach obyczajowych czy gospodarczych, ale to oczywiście nie jest żadnym odkryciem. Stąd na imprezie będącej kwintesencją wolności obyczajowej przedstawiciele molochów, których głównym celem jest zysk, nawet jeśli ukryty pod płaszczykiem rozmaitych Corporate Social Responsibility. Trudno zresztą mówić, żeby Przystanek Woodstock był antykapitalistyczny, skoro jego kluczowymi sponsorami są m. in. potężna marka piwa, operator komórkowy, bank czy organizacja kartowa.
Może cały dysonans jest więc wymysłem? Kołnierzyk koszuli delikatnie uciskający szyję, nie musi jej uciskać na poziomie metafizycznym? Rockowa iskra może się tlić wewnątrz i bardziej rozpalać tylko od czasu do czasu? Oby! Na pewno chcę zaplanować urlop tak, by na Przystanek Woodstock pojechać po raz siódmy. Poza tym przyjdą juwenalia i mnóstwo innych szalonych wydarzeń. Wystarczy poczekać do wiosny czy lata. Teraz jednak trzeba już być czujnym. Bardziej się pilnować. W końcu swoją osobą reprezentuje się firmę. Nigdy nie wiadomo,w jak niespodziewanych okolicznościach trafi się na kogoś ze swoich klientów.
Muzyczny akcent na dziś? Cover sprzed kilku lat, który podzielił odbiorców. Mnie zawsze rozczula:

With the change of clothes other changes came to my life. I spend my free time in a different way, which may also result from the fact that its amount drastically decreased. There were changes in the scope of plans, method, ideas. Maybe I care more about self-professionalization, development of additional skills. When the amount of time available is reduced, you need to be more wise to manage every moment. For sure I think more about stabilization, starting a family. Is this the result of "jumping into" a suit? Not necessarily. To some extent, it is just a convergence in time, the effect of the fact that the passage of time affects every area of life. However individual aspects of reality certainly affect each other and relative stability in one can result in a desire to achieve it in the another one. Is there still any room for the rock'n'roll playing in the soul and a bit of madness? I am invariably captivated by the scene I read about quite a long time ago. Well, at the turn of July and August, a car arrives to the Kostrzyn nad Odrą. It seems to be quite a good. Two serious men in suits get off and ... They quickly dress up into T-shirts and shorts, and then they join the crowd having fun at the Woodstock Music Festival. Is it possible? Yes, it is! However, I think about a certain dissonance. This huge festival is, after all, associated with punk, leftist movements, almost anarchist. Let's be honest, they are not completely unfounded associations. Here, on the other hand, we have undoubtedly employees of large corporations, vivid examples of "bloodthirsty" capitalism. Ok, looking for a dissonance here is perhaps a bit forced. After all, nowadays the division between the left and the right wing is blurred. You have to specify whether you are thinking about social or economic issues, but this is obviously not a discovery.
